Solace

There was a moment last week that I happened to look out a window at work and saw something worth going all the way back to my car to get my camera for.

It isn’t even anything. It’s chemical trails, a outdoor patio and an unintentionally cool reflective effect from the window but it still captured me for a moment in time.

An amazing change

It’s so remarkable to me that every living thing on this earth seems to burst forth from nothing. One moment there is a skeleton of dead twigs and the next, something beautiful and alive is where nothing once was.

It comes from nowhere and everywhere at once.

Spring brings the land around me back to life; it brings my heart back to life.

A flower from my beautiful boy. He doesn’t see a weed, he sees a flower….and so do I.

If you happen to find a moment today, please stop and see what’s around you. Life is beautiful every time of year as long as you take the time to notice it.

Curiously sweet

Cows are plentiful around here.  There aren’t many big milking or beef farms close by so, thankfully, almost all of the cattle I see are content, happy, naturally fed, bred, and raised.  Although their time may be limited and their fate predetermined, it makes me happy to see that these guys, at least, get to live a healthy, natural life just being a cow in a field with a nice warm barn and regular feedings until their time closes in.

They are very smart and sweet animals.  If you ever get a chance to make friends with one, it’s something you’ll never forget.  The cow above watched me the entire time I was taking photos.

This little one was curious but not curious enough to stick around long.  He high-tailed it back to the barn where mama was waiting for him, nervously peeking out at me now and then.

That white fuzzy belly though.  So cute.  I hope this little one gets to live a long, happy life never knowing what his future may hold.

Storm – Beauty and Danger

This one shows the very limited visibility on the roads at times though the storm.  It’s hard enough to navigate the snowy, icy roads when can see what’s in front of you. For me, I find it all so captivating I’d rather pull over and shoot photos than drive anywhere, any day.

The spots on the photo are snow that landed on my lens.  I quite like the effect they created.  Just look at that sun trying to break through!

Sunrise

I am having so much fun with my new camera.  The telephoto lens I picked up has made taking photos, which I loved before, the most relaxing and fulfilling activity I could have ever imagined.  This weekend I got up with the sun and captured some beautiful sunrise shots.  Nothing fancy, little editing aside from a bit of light and contrast adjustment and all the beauty nature has to offer, one moment captured in time.

Cedar wetlands. Home.

Where I am from, wetlands are the main ecosystem.  There is a beautiful wetland reservation ten min from home that I love to explore. Endless trails lead through cedars, birch and beech trees that provide shelter for many indigenous species.  This spot reminds me that silence is not a natural sound in places so full of life. 💕
